Ponta de São Lourenço is the eastern most point of Madeira Island, 9 km long. Here the cliffs rise 180m above the Atlantic in a dry and tree-free setting, and it has been considered a Nature Reserve since 1982. There are volcanic hills formed by ash and sand, covered by ocher, which results from the existence of limestone in the subsoil. Portugal.
